Want to become a BVCC Volunteer?

BVCC is dedicated to empowering HBCU students by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and insight needed to succeed in the venture capital and tech ecosystem. Our volunteers are an integral part of ensuring our cohort members are well-prepared to succeed in the industry of their choice. • A Curriculum Session Instructor plays a critical role in helping students develop the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in one of our six career tracks. In a remote environment, instructors guide students through industry-related topics and help them understand the course material for their prospective fields. Instructors use presentations, in-class activities, quizzes, breakout rooms, and other forms of assessment to gauge their understanding of the topics of discussion.

  • A Mock Interviewer plays a critical role in creating a realistic interview environment, assessing the candidate's skills, and providing constructive feedback on their communication, body language, and overall presentation. Mock Interviewers identify areas for improvement and offer practical advice to help the candidate develop their interviewing skills. A mock interviewer should create a supportive and encouraging environment that helps the candidate feel more confident and prepared for the official interview.

  • Our Bootcamp Instructors support us in preparing our students for the workforce. Throughout the year we host bootcamps in preparation for summer internship interviews and projects. Bootcamp instructors will bring forth their own curriculum and work alongside a BVCC associate to ensure that it aligns with our student’s needs and our goals.

  • A Portfolio Reviewer plays a critical role in providing valuable feedback and guidance to UX/UI designers, researchers, and other tech professionals, which can enhance the quality of their work and stand out in their industry. Whether a cohort member has a portfolio or is looking to create one, the reviewer will assist in providing valuable insight to make their portfolio stand out. By identifying both the strengths and weaknesses, reviewers provide targeted feedback that can help students improve their creative approach and presentation. This feedback can help young creative professionals to refine their craft, build a stronger online presence, and achieve greater success in their chosen field.

  • A Professional Development Coach is responsible for preparing students’ professional skills and assisting them to develop the soft skills necessary in their respective fields. The primary responsibility of the instructor is to deliver training content that is engaging, interactive, and relevant to the participants. They should be able to create lesson plans, activities, and assessments that are aligned with the goals of the program and help participants develop their leadership competencies. Through their expertise, guidance, and support, instructors can help participants to unlock their potential, enhance their abilities, and achieve their professional goals.
